Eico 324 Signal Generator Capacitor Premium Upgrade Kit
I’ve been asked why I don’t have a kit that includes the other capacitors found in the Eico 324 signal generator. So, I’ve created a kit that will be described below.
I've sold quite a few of these kits and everyone has been happy. Please review my feedback on these kits.
This kit will replace the paper capacitors in your Eico 324 signal generator with fresh new modern equivalent 630v capacitors. It will also include a new wired BNC connector, an upgrade for the electrolytic capacitors and rectifier as described below, and one foot of
braided spaghetti tubing
for use where necessary.
The Eico 324 manual/schematic can be readily found on the Internet.
This kit will include the following:
(1) .01uf (630V) capacitors (C13)
(2) .01uf safety capacitors (C1, C2)
C3 and CR1 will be replaced as described below
(2) .1uf (630V) capacitors (C8 & C9)
(1) .047uf (630V) capacitor (C10)
(1) .022uf (630V) capacitor (C11)
(1) Wired BNC panel mount connector (J1)
1 foot of spaghetti tubing
C3 (2 x 20uf, 150V capacitors) are replaced with (2) 22uf 250V electrolytic capacitors, and CR1 (selenium rectifier) is replaced with a 1N4007 diode, and a 2.4k 1W resistor. These parts have been mounted on a terminal strip. This is a drop-in upgrade. This portion is also sold individually and can be found by reviewing my other auctions.
This kit also includes replacements for the 400V C8, C9, C10, C11, and C13 capacitors. These will be replaced with modern equivalent capacitors rated at 630V. C1 and C2 are replaced with safety capacitors.
J1, the Amphenol connector is replaced with a standard BNC panel mount connector. This will allow you to use widely available BNC style test leads.
The BNC connector easily fits into the hole that was occupied by the Amphenol connector.  Simply unsolder the lead going to the RF Coarse switch, remove the Amphenol connector, install the new BNC connector in the existing hole, and solder the wire to the RF coarse switch. I’ve already soldered a wire to the BNC connector to make this upgrade as easy as possible.
Also included is one foot of braided spaghetti tubing to use where necessary.
